SOKKA Begins!!

Updated: Sep 27, 2022

In Japanese, Sokka (そうか) means “to believe”. As an Association, we believe in upholding the 7 principles of a black belt (honesty, humility, courtesy, integrity, self control, perseverance and indomitable spirit) set out by Ed Parker, the founder of American Kenpo Karate. We believe that everyone should be treated equally, regardless of their physical condition, gender identity, body type, and physical or mental limitations. We believe that everyone’s journey in attaining Black Belt Excellence should be fostered, nourished and supported. Becoming a black belt is each individual’s personal journey and as an organization, we are there to help positively guide each and everyone’s journey. It is my pleasure to announce that Roaring Tiger Family Martial Arts and Wallaceburg Martial Arts are the founding Dojos representing the Southern Ontario Kenpo Karate Association. These two founding dojos within this Association are affiliated with Kenpo International.

S.O.K.K.A. is also pleased to announce that in 3 weeks, on Saturday October 15th, it will be having it's first Annual Black Belt Grading. All of the Black Belt Candidates have worked extremely hard these past few years and they have persevered to achieving their individual goals on their own personal journey towards Black Belt Excellence. As a positive organization, S.O.K.K.A. is very excited for all of the candidiates and their families to share in this journey as each candidate earns their right of passage to proceed to the next level in American Kenpo Karate Martial Arts. GOOD LUCK everyone!!
