Code of conduct/protocols
1. Students must arrive on time and in full uniform with belts properly tied, shirts tucked in, have clean indoor
shoes or bare feet and be ready for class.
2. Students must not arrive more than 10 minutes before their class begins. If early, students must sit quietly
on the bench in the studio and wait until class begins. Individual stretching is allowed and encouraged.
3. Observers may only be present in the studio during candidate gradings, trial classes or when invited by the
Head Instructor. Parents and guardians are allowed to speak with the Head Instructor briefly before or after
classes as long as it does not interfere with the next class session.
4. No profanity, gambling, street weapons, food, or gum is allowed in the dojo.
5. Students must not wear unsafe jewellery or piercings into the dojo.
6. No unauthorized running, fighting, or horseplay is allowed in the dojo.
7. Parents and guardians are responsible for the supervision of their children prior to and after class. RTFMA
is not responsible for the supervision of students outside of class time.
8. RTFMA is not responsible for the supervision of non-students at any time. Parents and guardians are
responsible for the supervision of these children. No one should be roaming the studio hall as it is out of
bounds to all personnel due to legal liabilities.
9. Students and/or parents/guardians must immediately report any injuries to the highest-ranking instructor
present at the time of the injury.
10. If you are unable to attend class due to illness, please inform Sensei as soon as possible. If you have been
exposed or if anyone in the family has contracted COVID, please inform Sensei Immediately to ensure
RTFMA can take the necessary steps to minimize further spread of the disease.
11. Students must wear a full authorized uniform, including a properly tied belt, and appropriate patches
attached to their uniform to every class.
12. When using weapons or during training, students must be aware of their surroundings and mindful of
others to prevent injuries. Don’t be distracted and don’t distract others during class time.
13. Students should have fun and be positive. Sometimes it can be hard learning new material. Everyone
struggles at something. Remember to persevere and never give up. Show a Black Belt attitude!
14. All outstanding amounts owing to RTFMA must be paid in full prior to a student grading. Failure to do so
will result in a delay in testing until all debts are cleared up.
15. Students must obey and be respectful to the instructor(s) and any visiting guests at all times, both inside
and outside of the studio.
16. Students are encouraged to use the washroom before or after class and not during class.
17. RTFMA may impose such sanctions as it sees fit, including suspension or termination of the student
without refund, at its sole discretion, for any violation of this Code of Conduct.
